O'Shea Builders

Web Design & Development

O’Shea Builders is a leading commercial construction-services provider with several offices spread throughout central Illinois as well as their various construction projects. O’Shea Builders was not satisfied with the content management system their old website was built on and came to GoWeb1 to have their website redesigned on DNN.

Good Sam

O’Shea provided us their favorite parts of their website as well as several design and layout elements they wanted to see added. I came up with several different design concepts for their team to approve. Once we had their approval, I was able to develop their new website.

Alongside development, we also added several easy-to-use applications for photo galleries and slideshows to the website for their staff to add items to on their own without having to use code. I also made sure the text modules were easy to navigate and edit.

Fleet Feet Training Booklet

Fleet Feet Training Booklet

Graphic Design

Fleet Feet is a store where runners, walkers and fitness enthusiasts of all abilities receive unparalleled service and support. Fleet Feet St. Louis has an amazing training center and needed material to help inform the public of all of the training programs, classes and various physical assessments they could participate in right in their own backyard. I worked with a content writer and Fleet Feet’s Running Club manager to design an informational booklet with different sections for their various activities.

Fleet Feet Training Program

After the content writer wrote the first draft and the manager approved, I went about coming up with the design concept for all of the different pages with photos that either I or a professional photographer shot as well as vector shapes to help create a sense of movement. Fleet Feet St. Louis’s brand included bright orange, blues and reds – I included these colors to help organize the various sections for readers.

Once the concept was created, I worked with the content writer to make sure the content fit and read well with the imagery. When that was completed, I sent over the new concept to the Running Club manager for approval. After approval, I packaged the InDesign document with the fonts and imagery used and sent it to a professional printing service.

Springfield Sliders Promotional Material

Springfield Sliders TextClubs Material

Graphic Design

The Springfield Sliders are a collegiate summer league baseball team in the United States Prospect League. Their team is based in Springfield, Illinois and came to GoWeb1 for a TextClubs account to help advertise their upcoming games.

Sliders Icons

The Springfield Sliders needed material to advertise their new service. With their brand colors, I came up with a variety of materials the team could using iconography of various objects including baseball hats, helmets, and other related items. I stuck with darker colors for the icons where they were still easy to visualize from the background, but gave the bright green and white color to the content to help it stand out to baseball fans at the field.

Sliders Wall Banner

The Sliders posted the posters around Robin Robert Stadium and frequently shared the Facebook graphic I created. I was also tasked to create an outfield’s wall advertisement for their account.

BRIX Design System

UX Design & Strategy

BRIX Design System

UX Design & Strategy

Daugherty Business Solutions, an IT-oriented consultant company, has created and maintained multiple internal products. Besides the company's brand colors, the internal products did not carry UI design consistency. Developers were also re-developing common components (like buttons, text inputs, and cards) for each product, creating more work and potential bugs.

A design system would solve those problems; UI components designed to be used across products and code that has been developed and tested to avoid future problems when implemented.

BRIX

I brought together a team of UX Designers and Researchers to start planning out the design system that would come to be known as BRIX. We were able to architect a list of common components that are seen throughout various digital products. As a team we decided to follow the atomic design principals; we prioritized selecting smaller elements like colors and typography, built on top of it with buttons and inputs, and then structured more complex components like search and card UI.

Brix Buttons Structure We were able to build out these components while holding each other accountable to upholding accessibility standards and focused on WCAG's AA guidelines. Usability was also an important factor, components were created with the mindset that it could be used on a touch-based device.

BRIX components also needed documentation. We came up with a structure for each component page that would focus on the overview of the specific component, best use case, accessibility guidelines, different states and a page for development code.

As the founder of BRIX, I've been in constant contact with the BRIX development team. I attend meetings to answer questions and provide feedback about component styles and states. The development team has also offered helpful feedback that as designers, we've been able to implement in the UI library.

D&S Builders

UI Design

D&S Builders

Web Design

D&S Builders works include new construction, major additions and home renovations, and they strive to add value and functionality in their workmanship. Owners Dan and Tod needed a redesign from their static website as well as a content upgrade. I worked together with our team, GoWeb1’s content writer to help recreate a look that would match their brand.

D&S Builders

I created a mobile-friendly design to help highlight D&S Builder’s new construction and remodeling process using colors and spacing used in their previous marketing. We updated the navigation to highlight their photo gallery, customer reviews and designed a timeline to help walk visitors through the D&S Builders’ process for both new construction as well as remodeling.

Iconography was also created to help highlight various items D&S Builders focus on in their work including: electricity, air circulation, sustainability and ecofriendly environments.
